The Hollywood star Kevin Costner is firing back to deny rumors that his show “Yellowstone” is about to come to an end because he wants to shorten his work hours.

Costner Shuts Down Rumor

“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second,” Costner’s attorney Marty Singer told Entertainment Tonight.

“As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success,” he added.

A spokesperson for the Paramount Network also spoke out to defend Costner, saying, “As we previously stated, Kevin has been a key component of the success of our Yellowstone series, and we hope that continues from here on out.”

Rumors About Costner

This comes weeks after Deadline published a report alleging that sources had said that Costner wanted to drastically limit his working hours. The insiders claimed that Costner had already limited himself to shooting for 65 days, and wanted to move to 50 days for the first part of the current season. As for the second half of episodes, however, the sources alleged that he wanted to shift to shooting for just five days.

Rumor had it that “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan was moving to end the show because of Costner’s demands, and that he would be rebooting it with Matthew McConaughey as star.

“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” a Paramount Network spokesperson said at the time. “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

US Magazine reported that Costner is being paid $1.2 million per episode for the current fifth season of “Yellowstone,” which is expected to go on for sixteen episodes. Should he return for the next season, he will allegedly be making $1.5 million per episode.

Costner Proud Of ‘Yellowstone’

Costner told Coming Soon last year that he is proud of the success of “Yellowstone,” which has spawned multiple spinoff shows.

“I have a special pride in understanding what we launched, what we did, and how we continue to do it,” he said. “In America, if something works, you just figure out how to keep making that same idea, work, and work, and work. And you do that. You just ring it out until it won’t give anymore. And certainly, they’re trying to do it in an intelligent way, but the original Yellowstone has spawned all these.”

In “Yellowstone,” Costner portrays John Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family.

“Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States,” the show’s synopsis reads. “Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.”

Nobody wants to see “Yellowstone” come to an end anytime soon, so we’re glad to see that the rumors about Costner appear to be false. Here’s hoping that “Yellowstone” continues for many years to come!
