With the Royal Rumble some weeks away, we are officially on the cusp of Road to WrestleMania season! It’s no surprise that speculation is already running rapidly about what the WM 39 card will look like, and a new report sheds light on some matches “still up in the air”.

WrestleMania 39 Still “Up In The Air”

According to Fightful Select, it’s been pitched that Cody Rhodes face John Cena on this year’s Grandest Stage of Them All. With that said, it was not confirmed if this idea arose before or after Vince McMahon retired.

Other talents pitched for John Cena at WrestleMania 39 include Logan Paul and Austin Theory. However, it seems that Paul is the favored opponent heading into the flagship event.

Fightful also notes that other “top names” have been pitched for John Cena at WM 39. It’ll be interesting to see whom the WWE moves forward with.

WrestleMania 39 – Added Matches Up For Debate

In other WrestleMania 39 news, Fightful also confirms other reports that note Becky Lynch versus Ronda Rousey has been scrapped. The report does not confirm what other plans are in store for these two top WWE superstars.

Fightful reveals that sources told them that many within the WWE believe the Rousey versus Lynch bout should’ve happened at WM 35. It was also noted that The Man isn’t upset the match is no longer happening.

However, Fightful does say that Rousey is still expected to have a major WM 39 bout. In other news from the report, plans Vince McMahon had for this year’s WM 39 are no longer necessarily set in place, anymore.

Now that there’s a “new regime” heading things up, sounds like some of the thoughts VKM had for this year’s WrestleMania might not occur. The report also questions whether this could affect Cody Rhodes’ role at the event.

Most assumed Cody would challenge for the WWE title at WM 39. These plans haven’t been confirmed.

Lastly, many had hoped for The Rock to return to WrestleMania and face his cousin, Roman Reigns. Fightful reveals that Dwayne Johnson has still not been confirmed for ‘Mania, as of yet.

Interestingly enough, neither has Logan Paul. Fans will have to wait and see how the WrestleMania 39 card shapes up in the weeks and months ahead.

During last night’s AAA Night of Champions, FTR lost their World Tag Titles to Dralistico and Dragon Lee. However, after the bout, the new champions vacated their titles, thanks to Lee’s WWE contract.

So, what’s FTR’s status now with AAA? More on this story, below.

FTR’s AAA Status

After an incredible 438-day reign that started on October 16, 2021, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler lost their AAA World Tag Team Championship. Fightful Select reports that dropping the titles came at the request of FTR themselves.

The tag team wanted to finish their work with the AAA promotion by the end of 2022. This meant losing the tag team championships.

Harwood recently stated that the “Top Guys” may not be a part of a full year of televised wrestling in 2023, and the duo wanted some time off after their AEW contracts expire this spring. They deserve a break.

FTR’s AAA History

FTR held the tag titles for well over a year. Interestingly enough, they only wrestled three matches during their championship reign.

Wheeler and Harwood also won the ROH World Tag Titles. However, they did drop these to the Briscoes at Final Battle.

FTR also won the IWGP World Tag Championships during the AAA tag titles’ reign. They are set to defend these championships at Wrestle Kingdom 17 against Bishamon.
