Glover Teixeira

Back in 2021, Glover Teixeira finally achieved his dream of becoming UFC champion.

Teixeira dominated and submitted Jan Blachowicz in Abu Dhabi at UFC 267, completing his fight circle.

Now, this Saturday night, he can do it all again.

Teixeira takes on Jamahal Hill in the main event of UFC 283 for the vacant belt.

Can the 43-year-old native of Brazil accomplish the feat in front of his home fans? And if he does, would that be the perfect way for him to end his incredible career?

First things first, though. The 20-year veteran of the sport has shown time and time again he is on a high level, winning 33 times with 18 knockouts and 10 more wins via submission.

Teixeira went unbeaten from 2019 until 2022, winning six times, with five of those wins by finishes. Included in that run were victories over Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos and Nikita Krylov.

For as impressive as that run was, the one Teixeira put together from 2006-2014 was utterly speechless. He did not lose a fight, earning victories over Ryan Bader, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and many, many more.

That run of wins led to a title shot in 2014 against then-champion Jon Jones. Teixeira showed his toughness, pushing Jones to the distance. He was bested by Phil Davis in his next fight before three straight wins followed.

For Teixeira this is a chance to put a strong cap on a hall of fame career and ride off into the sunset as a champion.
