The world is still reeling from the death of Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, after she passed away of a heart attack last Thursday at the age of 54. Now, the plans for Elvis’ Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee have been revealed in the wake of her death.

What Will Happen To Graceland?

People Magazine reported that Graceland will go to Presley’s three daughters: Riley Keough, 33, and 14 year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood. Presley was also mother to Benjamin Keough, who tragically killed himself at the age of 27 back in 2020.

The official Graceland website explains that after Elvis died in 1977, the estate was left to Presley in a trust when she was only nine years old. This trust was dissolved on Presley’s 25th birthday in 1993, at which time she was given full ownership of the home. Presley later teamed up with her mother Priscilla and the National Bank of Commerce to launch The Elvis Presley Trust to manage the Graceland property.

While Presley inherited her father’s $100 million fortune in 1993, most of that money is now gone thirty years later due to overspending and mismanagement.

Daily Mail reported that Graceland is a major tourist attraction that brings in $56million a year. Around 600,000 people visit Graceland each year, making it second only to the White House and the Biltmore Estate for the highest tourist numbers of a home in the U.S.

Before her death, Presley was bringing in $4,000 a month from the Graceland estate and an estimated $104,000 a month from Elvis Presley Enterprise.

Memorial Service Planned For Presley

A public memorial service for Presley is set to take place on the front lawn of Graceland at 9 a.m. this coming Sunday, according to ABC News. She will be buried on the grounds of the estate next to her beloved son.

“Lisa Marie’s final resting place will be at Graceland, next to her beloved son Ben,” Presley’s daughter Keough told People Magazine.

Presley’s death was confirmed by her 77 year-old mother Priscilla hours after it happened.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla said according to Yahoo News. “She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time, there will be no further comment.”

The official Instagram account for Graceland also paid tribute to Presley, saying, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
