The world was stunned back in October when the NFL legend Tom Brady and the supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who he was married to for thirteen years, announced that they had gotten divorced. Now, Brady is opening up about how spending Christmas without his children will be a “new experience” for him this year.

‘It’ll Be A New Experience’

“It’ll be a new experience that I’ve never had before that I’m going to have to learn how to deal with,” Brady said on his “Let’s Go!” podcast on Monday.

Entertainment Tonight reported that since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing against the Cardinals in Arizona on Christmas Day, Brady will be spending the holiday weekend in a hotel room in Glendale. Though he’s been in the NFL for many years, this is the first time that Brady will be playing a game on Christmas Day.

“So you just asked a question about, ‘What have you learned from this football season?’ I’m going to learn how to deal with Christmas. Even in a hotel,” Brady said. “I’m going to have to learn how to deal with Christmas and Christmas night and still go out there and be a professional and then look forward to celebrating Christmas with my kids the day after, which is, you know, just part of what football season has been for a long time. So it’s just, again, emotional aspects that allow us to thrive.”

Brady and Bündchen share two children together: Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10. He also shares a 15 year-old son John with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, an actress who stars on the CBS television drama “Blue Bloods.”

Brady Focused On NFL Career

Going into this holiday weekend, football seems to be Brady’s main focus.

“There’s physical, mental, emotional,” Brady said of his NFL duties. “Those are the different challenges that we face in our lives and in all of us.”

Brady went on to compare his football career to being a businessman.

“I talked to a businessman,” Brady stated. “He was like, ‘God, all your injuries over the years.’ I said, ‘Yeah, football’s a tough sport. There’s a lot of injuries to deal with.’ And he goes, ‘Look, I’ve been a businessman all these years so there’s a lot of s–t I deal with too. I deal with anxiety. I deal with stress. I deal with all that. I deal with high blood pressure.'”

“And I said, ‘You’re right. I may deal with broken fingers and broken ribs and torn ligaments, but, you know, other people are dealing with s–t too.’ And that’s good perspective to have,” he added.

Bündchen ‘Recharging’ Post-Divorce

This comes after a source said that Bündchen has been working with a healer to help her deal with her marriage coming to an end.

“Gisele has been working with her healer to stay in a place of peace and come to terms with her marriage ending,” the insider said. “Tom and Gisele have love for one another, but Gisele knew she had to put herself and her family first over football.”

Bündchen took to Instagram on Sunday to say that she is “recharging” in Brazil with her children at the moment.

Divorce is not something that is easy for families to deal with, particularly around the holidays. While this will be a different Christmas for Brady, Bündchen, and their children, we hope that they are still able to find joy and happiness during this holiday season!
