Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have long been considered to be darlings of the radical left, and most of the liberal media fawns over them. That’s why it came as a surprise on Friday morning when Joy Behar blasted their new Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” on her ABC talk show “The View.”
The segment began with Behar’s co-hosts praising Harry and Meghan for the docuseries.
“They have a beautiful love story,” said Sunny Hostin, with Sara Haines adding,“You could always tell he loves her, but I really got a sense for what swept her away in a way that I hadn’t yet.”
“It’s his title,” Behar responded, as she clearly wasn’t having any of it.
Co-host Ana Navarro chimed in to say that she was “struck by their love story” and that Harry’s shock at the “racial component” also stuck with her.
“Nobody who lives in a Hispanic skin or who lives in an Afro-Latina skin is shocked by the fact that there is racism,” she said. “But Harry has lived as a white royal in England.”
When Navarro tried to say that the rift between Harry and his brother Prince William is “incredibly sad,” Behar jumped back in to say that she does not think it’s permanent before trashing the docuseries.
“I found the show boring, frankly. I’m sorry to say,” she said. “I wasn’t that interested in them before, now I’m even less interested.”
As the show cut to commercial, Behar’s co-hosts were aghast at her comments, according to Decider.
“What? It’s a love story!” Hostin exclaimed, with Haines adding, “That’s what you’re ending on?”
This comes after Meghan and Harry’s docuseries was widely panned, with calls growing for them to be stripped of their royal titles.
“If this guy hates the royals so much what is he doing parading and using his titles?” British political Bob Seely told Daily Mail. “If Harry and Meghan had integrity and wanted to practice what they preach – if they think the Royal Family is so awful why do they use Royal titles when it benefits them?”
“I do think it is the decent thing for them to do to voluntarily give up their titles,” he continued. “If they don’t I think there are various people trying to put down Bills helping them to do that.”
Not stopping there, Seely proceeded to defend the royal family from the racism claims that were made in the docuseries.
“I don’t for one second believe that the Royal family is ‘racist,'” he said. “I think it is highly dishonest and really quite unattractive to claim that. I suspect it is to justify their Netflix deal. They have not got much to say. What they have said they have said before. So they are just saying the same thing in a more aggressive and frankly unbelievable way. I don’t believe a word of it.”
Behar is typically one of the most liberal voices on “The View,” so it’s rare that we agree with anything she says. When it comes to Meghan and Harry, however, we can’t deny that she’s spot on.
