Raufeon Stots has positioned himself as one of the top bantamweights in the world.
Stots will headline Bellator 289 Friday night against Danny Sabatello live on Showtime. The bout takes place from Uncasville, Connecticut and the Mohegan Sun Arena.
It will serve as one of the semifinals in the Bellator Bantamweight World Grand Prix, with the interim title Stots won on the line. The other semi features Patcy Mix meeting Magomed Magomedov.
Stots has really come into his own since joining Bellator in 2019. He downed Juan Archuleta with a third round head-kick to secure the interim title in the opening round of the GP this past April.
Prior to that, he reeled off wins over Magomedov, Josh Hill, Keith Lee and others, putting his overall record at a remarkable 18-1.
Sabatello, though, will present quite the challenge. He is 13-1 overall with a recent decision victory vs. Leandro Higo on his resume.
After a win on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020, Sabatello signed with Bellator in May of the same year.
The card will be an overall big one for Bellator. Along with the two semifinal round fights in the GP, Liz Carmouche defends her women’s flyweight belt against Juliana Velasquez.
