Gwen Stefani Gushes Over Blake Shelton – ‘God Just Put Us Together’

While appearing on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Wednesday, the singer Gwen Stefani gushed over her country music star husband Blake Shelton, who she’s been married to since July of 2021.

Entertainment Tonight reported that Stefani began dating Shelton shortly after her 2016 divorce from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. At the time, Shelton had recently divorced his wife Miranda Lambert, so he bonded with Stefani right away after she signed on to be a coach on “The Voice” with him. 

“God just put us together,” Stefani, 46, explained to Barrymore. “It was one of those miracle situations where I didn’t see it coming. I was like, ‘I’m gonna wake up every day, I’m gonna have a coffee, I’m gonna take care of my kids and then I’m gonna go to bed.'” 

“‘Like, I’m never gonna kiss anyone.’ …like, I thought my life was over,” she added. “And then Blake Shelton’s like, ‘Hey. I’m Blake Shelton.'”

Meeting Shelton Was ‘The Dream’ For Stefani

Stefani went on to describe meeting Shelton as being “the dream” for her.

“Finding a best friend, someone that is, like, on the same plane when it comes to morals, or just the way you look at life, that’s the dream,” she said. “Having someone that, we think the same about things yet we’re so different, like, he’s watching football and doing his stuff that he does and I’m, like, putting makeup on. We are so different yet we’re so the same on so many levels.”

Barrymore, who has been married and divorced three times, could not help but agree with Stefani. 

“That’s the perfect balance, because opposites attract, expand each other’s horizons, and also give a little room for individuality,” she said.

Stefani previously admitted to NBC News that she didn’t know that Shelton “even existed” before she was hired for “The Voice. ”

“I did my homework and I could see that he was an amazing songwriter, and then I could see everybody falling in love with him,” she said. 

When asked who she would pick as her coach if she were a contestant on “The Voice,” Stefani replied, “I would probably have picked Blake, because I just feel like he’s so good at the show.”

Shelton Presents Stefani With Award

This comes days after Shelton honored Stefani while presenting her with The Matrix Award, which is given to women who break barriers in their careers and help carve out the way for future “female leaders,” according to Outsider. 

“I am humbled and excited to speak about my wonderful wife and duet partner today, as she is honored for putting women at the forefront and championing women consistently throughout her prolific career,” Shelton said. “Gwen is not just a wonderful mother, singer, and entrepreneur – she is an icon.”

When Stefani took the stage to accept her award, she had nothing but praise for her husband. 

“Obviously, my favorite award ever, Blake Shelton, for marrying me,” she said. “Wow, this is surreal — weird Blake talking about me like that. Thank you so much, you’re such a babe, and you’re so awesome.”
