Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has been granted bail.

According to a report by ESPN, Velasquez was released after eight months in custody. His bail was set at $1 million and he must wear a GPS tracker.

Velasquez can also not come within 300 yards of the alleged victims in the case.

“It’s been a long slog and I am very grateful,” said Mark Geragos, the attorney for Velasquez. “Nothing is as touching as watching him having it sink in with his wife, Michelle, there.”

The 40-year-old Velasquez has been in jail since February after he allegedly shot Paul Bender when firing on a vehicle with Harry Goularte inside of it.

Goularte had been charged with sexually assaulting a young relative of Velasquez, who left the UFC and competed for the WWE for a short period of time.

An 11-mile, high-speed chase through San Jose involved Velasquez and others, and ultimately led to his stunning and shocking arrest.

“Instead of listening to all this hyperbole and nonsense bandied about, we had a hearing with cross-examinations and witnesses under oath,” Geragos said.
