Danica McKellar Flees California – Moves To Rural Tennessee

Yet another celebrity has fled the liberal-run state of California, as the former “Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar has announced that she has left Los Angeles to move to rural Tennessee.

McKellar Leaves California

While promoting her upcoming Christmas movie “Christmas at the Drive-In,” which premieres on Great American Family on November 25, McKellar revealed that she’s moved to a rural homestead in Tennessee. 

“I am just loving the fact that my Christmas movie characters have rubbed off on me,” McKellar, 46, told People Magazine. “I think it’s just a wonderful example of life imitating art.”

McKellar moved to Tennessee with her attorney husband Scott Sveslovsky, and her young son Draco, who she shares with her ex Mike Verta. Her mother also joined them when they moved to a home that is located about an hour outside of Nashville. 

“My husband and I have been wanting more nature for a long time,” McKellar said. “We were kind of ready to not be in a city anymore.”

Though McKellar lived in California all her life, she was drawn to Tennessee because of her passion for country music. 

“Memphis and Nashville are both entertainment cities. They’re known for music,” she said. “Being from L.A. and being an entertainer, it’s nice to have creative people around.”

One of McKellar’s favorite features of her new home is the enormous trampoline that she’s put in her backyard. 

“I jump on that thing all the time,” she admitted. “We’re thinking about putting a pool in at some point, but I’m like, ‘Yeah, you know what? I’m having a lot of fun as-is.'”

Rob Schneider Flees California

McKellar is just one of many celebrities who has left California over the last few years amidst the state’s increasingly liberal policies. Another celebrity who has done this is the former “Saturday Night Live” star Rob Schneider, who left California to move to Arizona in 2020. 

“California, land of my birth and where all my children were born, I’ve spent all of my life in your beauty,” Schneider tweeted at the time. “So it is with much sadness that we have to part. But it is time to leave #CaliforniaYouBrokeMyHeart.”

Schneider opened up about this move more last month. 

“I really feel like I don’t want the Democratic Party trying to run my life. And there’s not one aspect of your life that they don’t want to interfere with. I had it with them,” Schneider said, according to KTLA. “So I got out of California and moved to the slightly freer state of Arizona.”

Mark Wahlberg Leaving California 

This also comes one month after we reported that the Hollywood star Mark Whalberg had announced that he would be moving from California to Nevada to give his family a “better life.” 

“After this gubernatorial election, hopefully we go to legislation and get a bill passed so we can get tax credits for the state, build a state of the art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0,” Wahlberg said of his upcoming move to Las Vegas. 

“I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there,” he said. “So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

It’s becoming painfully obvious that California is simply not a state that people should strive to live in. Perhaps lawmakers there should try to be a little less “woke” if they want to keep celebrities like McKellar, Schneider, and Wahlberg as residents.
