Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg has announced that he is leaving the left-wing state of California so that he can give his four children a “better life” in income tax-free Nevada.

Wahlberg Flees California

Daily Mail reported that while being interviewed on The Talk, Wahlberg revealed that he has bought two properties in Nevada. The first is a $15.6million 2.5-acre block of land in an exclusive area that he plans to build a mansion on, and the second is a $14.5million bungalow to live in as while this home is being constructed.

Wahlberg explained that he chose to move to Nevada because he wants to get a tax credit that would make it easier for him to launch the film studio that he has been planning for years.

“After this gubernatorial election, hopefully we go to legislation and get a bill passed so we can get tax credits for the state, build a state of the art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0,” the actor said.

Wahlberg had lived in an $87.5 million home in Beverly Hills for over a decade, but he now seems to feel that his time in California was a missed opportunity.

“I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there,” he said. “So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

Wahlberg’s Business Ventures

Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Dunham share four children together: Ella, 19; Michael, 16; Brendan, 14; and Grace, 12. He was open about the fact that he’s leaving California for tax reasons, saying that doing so will help his various business ventures. On top of his film studio, Wahlberg is hoping to launch a “shoe factory” and a “factory for [his clothing line] Municipal.”

“So we came here to just give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s lots of opportunity here, so I’m really excited about the future,” he said.

Earlier in the interview, Wahlberg said that it’s important to him to be able to work close to where he lives because he’s a homebody who loves spending time with his family.

“Every free moment that I have, I’m at home,” he said.

Wahlberg Describes Las Vegas As His ‘Home Town’

In a previous interview back in August, Wahlberg was already describing Las Vegas, Nevada as his “home town.”

“We want to create a lot of jobs, and a lot of excitement. Hollywood 2.0,” he said at the time.

While Wahlberg has lived on the west coast for years, he was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.

Though most are not as wealthy as Wahlberg, many Californians will certainly be able to relate to his reasons for leaving the liberal-run state, as taxes there have gotten completely out of control. We hope Wahlberg enjoys his time in Nevada, and we can’t wait to see his potential film studio in the years to come!
