‘My Sister Died’

Kelly, 51, announced that Crossley had died at the start of her podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM on Monday.

“Something really sad happened in my family over the weekend,” Kelly said as her voice cracked with emotion. “My sister died. She was 58. Her name was Suzanne Crossley and she died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.”

“She hasn’t been in very good health for the last couple of years,” she added. “It’s been one problem after the other. It was sudden and it was unexpected.”

Daily Mail reported that Kelly rushed up to New York from Washington D.C. to be with her family as soon as she heard about her sister’s death.

“It was really hard, it was extremely emotional,” she contained. “My poor mom, as all moms and dads out there know, this is not the order this is supposed to happen.”

Crossley’s obituary states that while her father Edward Kelly predeceased her, she is survived by her mother Linda Kelly as well as three siblings.

“My poor mum – as all moms and dads know, this is not the order in which this is supposed to happen,” Kelly lamented.

Kelly Found It ‘Cathartic’ To Return To Work

While some may be surprised that Kelly returned to host her podcast on Monday so soon after her sister’s death, she explained that she found it “cathartic” to get back to work and take her mind off this tragedy.

“I said to myself, do I come back for Monday’s show? Do I not? And for me, it’s better to be here,” she said. “It’s more cathartic to work, it gave me a couple of hours where I could take my mind off of it and do my show and talk about the stuff that matters.”

Kelly then admitted that she’s not “very good” at staying in touch with her loved ones by sending spontaneous messages.

“So it’s a big reminder to me at how fleeting things can be and how we get upset over s*** that doesn’t matter,” she said. “We can’t all be perfect on that front but we can make a little effort day by day to shoot a text or return a call.”

‘Family Was The Center Of Suzanne’s Life’

Crossley is survived by her mother, three siblings, and her three adult children, according to her obituary.

“Family was the center of Suzanne’s life and she was adored for her caring, witty, and wise interactions with everyone she love,” it reads.

“She was extremely creative, enjoyed arts and crafts and any game with family. She played a fierce gin rummy and was eagle-eyed for those trying to palm the double five in Dominos,” it continues. “She loved to make fun of herself and taught her children how to laugh no matter what life throws at you.”

Losing a loved one is never easy, particularly when their death is as sudden as Crossley’s seems to have been. Please join us in saying a prayer for Kelly and her family during this difficult time.
