For Jim Ross, firing Eddie Guerrero was the hardest part of his career. Also, WWE has issued a statement on the passing of Sara Lee.

In just a few days, Eddie Guerrero would have had a birthday. Sadly, the world lost Guerrero back in 2005.

The moment shocked fans and wrestlers. WWE produced RAW and SmackDown, with storylines put aside to honor a fallen wrestler.

Before his passing, Guerrero had done a complete 180. He was always talented, but he had demons.

WWE initially hired Guerrero and several other wrestlers from WCW. Because of substance abuse problems, WWE wanted to send Guerrero to rehab.

He refused and WWE did not let him go. Although, following a DUI charge, Jim Ross knew he had no decision but to let Guerrero go.

On the Grilling JR Podcast, Ross discussed letting Guerrero out of his WWE contract. He would call the decision the toughest of his legendary career.

“It probably was because I saw greatness,” said Ross. “I saw one of the greatest pro wrestlers in the world that we’re about to lose if we don’t get our arms around his problem.” 

“But, in order for us to get our arms around his problem, he’s gotta cooperate with us. He’s gotta allow us to hug him.” 

“That’s what we kept waiting on. So, yeah, that was probably the toughest because I had such an emotional investment in him.”

Of course, WWE did rehire Guerrero. He would make the most of his second run, becoming WWE Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar.

Even at the time of his passing, WWE had big plans for Guerrero. Because of injury, Guerrero was supposed to win the World Heavyweight Championship before passing away at only 38 years old.

Statement About Sara Lee

Yesterday, we learned that former Tough Enough winner Sara Lee passed away. She was only 30 years old and left behind a husband as well as three children.

Late Thursday, WWE issued the following statement about Lee.

“WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee. As a former “Tough Enough” winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world. WWE offers its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and fans.”

A Go Fund Me was created with a goal of $20,000. That number was reached within just a few hours.

As of now, there is no cause of death.
