Kelly Ripa Addresses Claim She Almost Died While Having Sex With Husband Mark Consuelos

Television personality Kelly Ripa is speaking out this week to address rumors about almost dying while having sex with her actor husband Mark Consuelos.

While filming Wednesday’s episode of “Live With Kelly And Ryan,” Ripa’s co-host Ryan Seacrest said that he had “been reading the press” about her and her husband, who have been married for 26 years. He was referring to a story from Ripa’s upcoming memoir “Live Wire,” in which she revealed that she once passed out while having sex with Consuelos.

Though the memoir isn’t set to come out until later this month, the story is already going viral online, with one version of it claiming that Ripa nearly died during sex with her husband. However, Ripa made sure to clear up that this is not what actually happened.

“Those are accurate stories too,” she said sarcastically, according to People Magazine. “I sent Ryan an article because his knee hurt and I said, ‘I’ll make you feel better.'”

“I was at the knee doctor yesterday and she sent me the article about how she almost died during sex with Mark,” Seacrest explained. “I said, ‘Well, the pain has just gone away!'”

‘I Did Not Almost Die Having Sex’

Ripa then chimed back in to directly call out the outlet that is spreading this false narrative. 

“I’m talking to the outlet that printed this specifically,” she said. “If you’re not going to bother to read the book and you’re going to read an article about the book, then at least read the [right] article. Because no, I did not almost die having sex at Jimmy Buffett’s house.”

“But what a great story! My knee was instantly healed,” Seacrest said, to which Ripa responded, “It’s an incredible story, and I wish it were true. It’s just not.”

“Thank God my parents don’t know how to read the news on their phones,” she concluded.

Ripa Recounts Fainting During Sex

In her memoir, Ripa wrote about the first time she had sex with Consuelos after they welcomed their first child, a son they named Michael. The act of intimacy did not go well, as Ripa ended up fainting because of two ovarian cysts bursting, leading to her waking up in the hospital!

“My eyes shift between the fuzzy images on the screen, the remnants of my ovarian tormentor, and Mark happily snacking away,” she wrote in an excerpt from her book obtained by Haute Living.

“Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted,” she added. “There he is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice. Mark could be at a movie, or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”

‘It’s Still Baffling To Me…’

As she got her bearings after waking up in the hospital, Ripa was shocked to see that her husband had hastily dressed her in an outfit that was less than flattering!

“Here is my husband, who is, dare I say, stylish, well-dressed at all times, and yet he dressed me like a dime store prostitute in my time of need,” she continued. “It’s still baffling to me to this day that this is the best costume for the day that he could find for me, to the point where, when I was on the stretcher, I thought I was dreaming; I was having a nightmare. I didn’t realize I had come to.”
