Country Star John Rich Shares Some Powerful Cowboy Wisdom, Encourages Fans To “Bleed” For Their Dreams

Country music star John Rich recently offered some words of cowboy wisdom to fans; words that are, in today’s political climate, more relevant than ever.

Rich’s Cowboy Advice

“We’re not guaranteed the right to be happy. We’re guaranteed the right to pursue happiness,” Rich told Fox News. “You’re not always happy when you’re pursuing it, but you ought to be happy that you’ve got a right to at least go for it.”

He added, “We should take advantage of that in this country, that we have the right to pursue happiness and absolutely exhaust our potential every chance we get.”

Rich went on to say that, when it comes to himself, the country star sees this pursuit of happiness as him using his talent and thriving off of his love for music.

Rich’s Early Years

In this same interview Rich discussed his early years, opening up about the uncertain future he faced after high school.

“When we got to Tennessee I was still in high school, and I actually went to a couple of big universities and was offered full-ride scholarships on a vocal scholarship,” he recalled. “You know, singing [in Latin].”

Rich soon decided to make a career out of his music, hitting the road with the Nashville-based country music band Lonestar.

“It didn’t make my parents real happy, I can tell you that,” he admitted. “I remember my mother saying, ‘You’ll never amount to a hill of beans if you don’t go to college.’ My very cocky and disrespectful answer came back, ‘Well, a hill of beans is not what I intend on amounting to. Bye.’”

The road to success was not an easy one for Rich, as he was later fired from Lonestar and began writing his own music, but he still persevered.

“You have to struggle and suffer to go get these big things, and I think people these days think that if they don’t get what they want when they want and exactly how they want it, they’re gonna throw a brick through my window,” he asserted. “They’re never gonna accomplish anything that’s truly great because they don’t understand what it takes to go get it. They’re not willing to bleed for it.”

Rich Becomes Emotional

The musician became visibly emotional as he talked about how the first thing he did after he finally found success was to buy his grandparents a house.

“First thing I did, my Granny Rich and my Papaw Rich, World War II vet, and here’s a woman that was born in the Dust Bowl days in the middle of west Texas in the Great Depression,” Rich said. “Simultaneously these things are going on, and they were social security, she’s still working 40, 50 hours a week at the dollar store.”

“He’s trying to flip used cars,” he continued. “I get my hands on this money and I thought, you know what, the only reason I get to go chase down dreams like this is ’cause an old man like that, that went out and fought and bled for our right to go do it.”

In a world full of self-centered left-wing celebrities, Rich’s hardworking and patriotic attitude is a refreshing one. If only we had more stars in the world like him!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
