Something truly touching happened in Oklahoma on Saturday night when the country music star Kane Brown brought his musical hero Randy Travis onstage during a concert and proceeded to serenade him with “Three Wooden Crosses.”

Brown Serenades Travis With Moving Song

Music Mayhem reported that while performing at the Choctaw Grand Theater in Oklahoma on Saturday night, Brown shocked his fans when he brought Travis onstage and sat down beside him. He then began to sing a powerful cover of Travis’ hit “Three Wooden Crosses,” a Christian anthem that he released back in 2002.

Viral video of the touching moment shows Travis, 63, sitting in his red wheelchair beside Brown, 28, as he enjoys his performance. This was definitely a moment that nobody in the theater will be forgetting anytime soon!

Brown Has Done This Before

Surprisingly enough, this isn’t the first time Brown has done this! In October of last year, he brought Travis onstage during a concert in Dallas, Texas. There, he also performed “Three Wooden Crosses.”

“I got the privilege to do this,” Brown said as he brought Travis onstage to roaring applause from the crowd.

“Did you just get CMT artist of the decade or of a lifetime? Should’ve been a lifetime if it wasn’t!” he continued, according to American Songwriter. Travis responded by flashing a big smile before Brown began performing his moving 2002 song.

Travis shared a video of this on his Instagram page at the time, captioning it, “Had a blast at my friend @kanebrown_music ‘a concert at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Thank you for the ? #famousfriends.”

Brown Honors Travis At CMT Awards

This came a week after Brown honored Travis at the CMT Awards, where the latter did indeed win the 2021 Artist of a Lifetime honor.

“Randy, I just want to say, you are such an influence, man,” Brown said. “I love you to death.”

That same night, Brown also took home the Artist of the Year award, and he performed “Three Wooden Crosses” for the crowd there as well. Check out that performance for yourself in the video below.

‘Three Wooden Crosses’

“Three Wooden Crosses” is an emotional song that tells the story of a farmer, a teacher, and a preacher who were tragically killed in a bus accident, according to Taste Of Country. It also tells the story of the son of a prostitute who survived the crash and became a preacher in order to share the divine story with the world.

“There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway / Why there’s not four of them / Heaven only knows / I guess it’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you / It’s what you leave behind you when you go,” reads one portion of the lyrics.

“Three Wooden Crosses” became Travis’ 16th No. 1 single when it topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and it won the Song of the Year award at the 2003 CMA Awards.

Clearly, this song means a lot not only to Travis but also to Brown. God bless Brown for once again taking the time to honor his idol Travis with such a beautiful performance of this unforgettably moving song!
