The country music star Luke Bell was found dead in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, one week after he was reported missing. The singer was 32 years-old.

Bell Found Dead At 32

Daily Mail reported that Bell went missing on August 20, and his body was found nine days later. It’s been reported that Bell had been suffering from bipolar disorder and had changed his medication just recently, but no official cause of death has been revealed at the time of this writing.

Saving Country Music reported that Bell’s friends were worried about him over the past week after they realized that they hadn’t seen or heard from him in days.

“We came down here to Arizona, to work down here, play some music, and he just took off,” said musician Matt Kinman, who traveled to Tucson with Bell. “He was in the back of the truck. I went in to get something to eat. I came out, and he’d got out of the truck and left.”

Kinman had been caring for the late singer for many years. He said that Bell had recently changed his bipolar medication.

“When he’s right, he’s one of the best people you’ll ever know. When he’s sick, well, this is what you get,” Kinman said of Bell after he went missing. “He’s not done with music. He wants to do music. And when he’s right, he’s been writing music, and wanting to perform.”

Bell’s History

Born in Kentucky in 1990, Bell was raised in Cody, Wyoming, and a chance meeting with singer and songwriter Pat Reedy opened him up to pursuing music as a career.

“[Pat] pulled through in an ’85 Datsun diesel pickup truck with a homeless painter and a half-wolf dog. It was just a picture of a different part of earth,” Luke told Saving Country Music in 2016.

After honing his talent in Austin, Texas, Bell made it to Nashville, Tennessee, and he released his self-titled debut album in 2012.  Two years later, he released his full-length album “Don’t Mind If I Do,” which was followed by his last album in 2016, also called “Luke Bell.” This final album came out around the time Bell was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Bell’s last concert was at the Equiblues Festival in Saint Agrève, France in August of 2017, but he continued to make music, with his last single “Jealous Guy” being released last year. Check out that song in the video below.

‘Life’s Not That Bad’

In a 2016 interview, Bell opened up about what life on the road was like for him.

“To be honest, I live in the day, and I count smiles,” he told The Boot. “That’s it. Listen, half the time, I end up drinking beer with my neighbors.”‘

“Life’s not that bad,” Bell added. “The downside, in some ways, is I don’t have a wife and kids, but at the same time, it’s pretty ideal right now. I just travel around to other cities and hang out with other people… The goal is to have high hopes and low expectations and have a good time.”

Rest in peace, Luke Bell.
