Liv Morgan’s WWE Push + Mauro Ranallo Talking To AEW?

Liv Morgan’s currently enjoying a WWE SmackDown Women’s title run. It happened somewhat suddenly (and shockingly) at the Money in the Bank (MITB) event, recently. So, what’s the reason behind her push within the company?

Liv Morgan’s WWE Push

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently chats about Ms. Morgan and her run as Women’s Champion. He notes that Naomi and Sasha Bank’s infamous walkout of RAW on May 16th “opened the door” for newer babyface females to hit the top spot on the Blue brand.

In addition, Meltzer notes that WWE management believed the “time was right” to push Liv into the spotlight. Plus, Morgan’s popularity within the WWE Universe and live crowds was another key indicator.

Liv Morgan’s WWE Push Already Considered “Successful”

There’s a buzz that Liv’s current title reign is already being thought of as a “success”. According to PW Insider, her merchandise is selling very well at house shows.

Plus, she consistently gets one of the “loudest reactions” from the crowd a live shows. Morgan is set to defend her championship against Ronda Rousey at the 2022 SummerSlam event.

Will she retain or drop her gold? Only time will tell.

Over to the land of AEW, could they snag ex-WWE commentator, Mauro Ranallo? See more on this story, below.

Mauro Ranallo Talking To AEW?

Ranallo had a good run as a commentator for NXT, WWE main roster brands, and pay-per-view events for the company. He currently offers play-by-play for Bellator (a mixed martial arts company), and major Showtime boxing events.

With that said, most are aware of what a huge pro wrestling fan he is. But, could he jump over to AEW?

Dave Meltzer recently tweeted about this when a follower asked about Mauro joining Tony Khan’s promotion. See the post, below.

AEW In Mauro Ranallo’s Future

Mauro’s an enthusiastic announcer with a deep love for wrestling. If AEW provided Ranallo with a contract, the biggest winners would be the fans.

Maura dived into wrestling at 16 by securing a gig with Vancouver-based promotion All-Star Wrestling, in Canada. He would go on to act as a commentator for Stampede Wrestling from 1999 to 2000.

After that, he entered the land of combat sports as a commentator. In 2015, he joined New Japan Pro Wrestling to become a “voice” for their U.S. content.

He inked a deal with the WWE in 2016, to become the lead voice for SmackDown. Sadly, reports surfaced in 2017 that he was being bullied by fellow commentator, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, behind the scenes.

He would end up parting ways with the WWE after the “bullying” incident. However, Ranallo returned some months later to NXT, as lead commentator.

He stayed in NXT until 2020. Then Mauro re-appeared at Impact Wrestling, calling the main event bout between Kenny Omega and Rich Swann. The match was title versus title, that is, the AEW World Champion against the Impact World Champion.

At the age of 19, Mauro was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after his best friend passed away. He also happens to be a huge advocate for mental health.

Showtime also chronicled his life via a documentary titled Bipolar Rock ‘N Roller, while Ranallo was still with the WWE. Mauro continues to work hard to break the stigma around mental health.
