Kelly Clarkson Reveals ‘Hardest Thing’ About Life After Her Bitter Divorce

Now that her bitter divorce from her former manager and husband Brandon Blackstock has finally been finalized, the singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson is getting ready to release some new music. In a new interview, the 40 year-old is admitting that she does not know how much she can share about her divorce with her fans.

‘It’s Been The Hardest Thing’

“It’s been the hardest thing to navigate,” Clarkson said while appearing on The Global Chart Show with Brooke Reese. “I’ve never had this difficult of a project. It’s one of those things where I’m a human and I’m going through something huge. Obviously, everybody knows, like, a big, huge divorce I went through.”

Clarkson, who finalized her divorce back in March after originally filing for it in June of 2020, went on to say that she also has to think about their children, daughter River, 8, and son Remington, 6.

“It’s just a whole different dynamic,” she added.

Writing has always been Clarkson’s main outlet, so she has written music about her divorce process over the past few years. Now, she’s trying to decide how much of this music she wants to make public.

‘I Have Written, Like, 60 Songs’

“I have written, like, 60 songs,” Clarkson said. “It’s an insane amount of getting it out. Any time you go through something, [songwriting’s] such an awesome thing to have that as an outlet, regardless of if people hear it or not.”

“I mean I have to be completely honest, but that’s a hard thing to navigate, right? Because it’s in the public eye, and there’s other people involved,” she explained.

That’s why Clarkson is taking her time when it comes to what she wants to include in her upcoming album.

“It’s coming,” she promised. “I just gotta get my crap together. I just got to figure out what I’m going to release.”

Clarkson Opens Up About Divorce

Clarkson has long been open about how difficult her divorce was for her. 

“My children and his older children—there are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people feel, ‘Oh my gosh, what a loss …’ imagine how it is in the epicenter of the storm,” Clarkson previously told the Los Angeles Times.

“It’s a lot to process and deal with, just as a family,” she added. “So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too deep with it.” 

As a child of divorce herself, Clarkson knows firsthand how hard her split has been for her children.

“Divorce is never easy,” Clarkson said in September of 2020, according to E! Online. “And we’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts.”

Clarkson ‘Open To Dating Again’

Sources say that with her divorce finally behind her, Clarkson is ready to find love again. 

“Kelly has entered the dating world,” one source told US Weekly. “She’s being set up with friends and is open to dating again.”

“It’s hard for Kelly to find time for romance with her schedule, but her friends are still into setting her up,” the insider added. 

Divorce is something that millions of people go through, so we applaud Clarkson for being so open about her difficult experience with it. While we can understand her wanting to keep some things private, we also hope that her new album includes some songs about divorces that we can all relate to!
