Elisabeth Hasselbeck Calls For Prayers As She Returns To ‘The View’ As Conservative Guest Host

Elisabeth Hasselbeck shocked her fans this week by revealing that she will be returning to the ABC talk show “The View” as a guest host, and she’s calling for prayers as she prepares to do it!

‘Pray For Me, Y’All!’

“It will be an honor to cohost The View, share our bestselling children’s book, ‘Flashlight Night,’ and as always tackle hot topics!” Hasselbeck told People Magazine. “Pray for me y’all!”

Daily Mail reported that Hasselbeck, 45, was the token conservative co-host of “The View” from 2003 until 2013, which was seasons 7-16.

During her time on the show, Hasselbeck was known for getting into heated debates with her liberal co-hosts like Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. In 2007, Hasselbeck got into such a heated fight with her co-host Rosie O’Donnell over the Iraq War that the comedian quit the show soon afterwards.

Hasselbeck Reflects On Her Time On ‘The View’

Hasselbeck reflected on her time on “The View” in her 2019 book, “Point of View: A Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom.”

“It was called ‘The View,’ as in definite and singular,” she wrote. “Yes, there were bonds of friendship formed around the table despite opposing views, but there were also bonds broken because of those differing perspectives.”

“Like a fighter after ten rounds in a ring, I was exhausted from holding one side of the issue alone, though happy to do it, and I needed the faces of my kids to be close to mine as soon as possible,” Hasselbeck continued.

After leaving “The View,” Hasselbeck replaced Gretchen Carlson as host of “Fox & Friends,” a gig that Barbara Walters, the creator of “The View,” helped her get.

“Working for and with Barbara Walters remains one of the most educational times of my life,” Hasselbeck wrote in her 2019 book.

“When I arrived at The View, I was newly married, in my midtwenties, and really inexperienced when it came to television, politics, and debating,” she continued. “By the time I walked out of the building on that last day, I had three children, and thanks to her, a wealth of experience.”

Hasselbeck is set to make her return to “The View” starting on August 3.

Potential New Conservative Co-Host On ‘The View’

Entertainment Tonight reported that this comes amidst rumors that Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked in the White House during Donald Trump’s presidency, is being hired by “The View” as a permanent co-host to fill the seat that was vacated by Meghan McCain when she left the show last summer. ABC, however, has denied that Farah Griffin has officially been hired.

“We do not have a co-host announcement to make at this time,” said a spokesperson for the show. “Stay tuned.”

On a recent episode of “The View,” Farah Griffin called on Republicans to codify same-sex marriage into law.

“I think the Republican Party… they’re on the wrong side of this,” she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “On the one hand, I was pleased that the House was able to pass codifying marriage equality into law, but the number of Republicans who were against it? It’s 2022. This is the easiest issue.”

“If there is one message I could deliver to my fellow Republicans, this should be the easiest vote you’ll ever take,” she continued.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Hasselbeck’s return to “The View” goes next week, and if Farah Griffin is indeed brought on as a permanent co-host.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
