Early Returns For Liv Morgan, What’s Up With Women’s Tag Titles

After an eventful 2022 Money In The Bank, we have some positive early returns for Liv Morgan. Plus, what’s up with the WWE Women’s Tag titles?

Early Returns For Liv Morgan

After she won the women’s briefcase and cashed in at Money In The Bank, we’ve got some early returns for Liv Morgan.

And, in a word, the returns are positive.

Often, when WWE puts a title on a first time champion, there is a bit of scrutiny on things.

Specifically, how will that new champion be received.

Sometimes, a first time champion is a no-brainer, the crowds react as expected or better, and life is good.

Other times, the title reign is a bust, for any number of reasons. In those instances, we’ve often seen WWE abort a title run early and change course.

Shortly after Liv Morgan won her first SmackDown Women’s Championship, word came down that her run was actually expected to be a short one.

That would be frustrating on a number of levels.

First, Liv Morgan has really engaged fans in recent months.

For another, it would be yet another women’s Money In The Bank briefcase winner who cashed in for a relatively brief title run.

Nikki A.S.H had that fate last year. That may be Liv Morgan’s as well in 2022.

But, perhaps those early returns for Liv Morgan changes plans?

According to PWInsider, several people involved with SmackDown have remarked that the reactions to Morgan have blown them away, more than they expected.

Surely, they are not the only ones who’ve noticed.

Now, whether that means WWE changes the reported plans or not? That remains to be seen.

Then again, just because a Superstar’s first run is short, does not mean they won’t have more and better title runs.

Either way, Liv Morgan’s early time as Women’s Champion is encouraging.

What’s Up With Women’s Tag Titles

Now, there are other titles with less clarity…specifically, what’s up with the WWE Women’s Tag Titles?

The last time WWE had Women’s Tag Team Champions, Naomi and Sasha Banks were still working Mondays and Fridays.

Of course, that was two months ago.

Since then, Naomi and Sasha Banks have had their well-documented issues.

The pair have reportedly been removed from the internal roster. At least Sasha Banks has been reportedly released.

WWE, of course, has not said a thing either way.

Naomi has been cryptic on social media…but that’s it.

WWE was quick to declare that the tag titles would be up for grabs in a tournament…but we have not seen a thing about said tournament since.

And, we are not the only ones in the dark.

Per Fightful, WWE’s female Superstars (and likely all Superstars) have no clue what is going on with the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Now, to be fair…WWE doesn’t have many women’s tag teams either.

That cupboard was always pretty bare, and it has not ever improved.

Now, if WWE were to pull off such a tournament, we would see a lot of teams only put together for the sake of the event.

It could give them an excuse to call up Toxic Attraction, but that is about the only possible positive I can think of.
