The Oscar-winning star Sandra Bullock announced earlier this year that she would be taking a break from Hollywood saying that though she is “not retiring,” she is “just going to not spend time in front of the camera for a while.”

Now, Bullock is giving more details as to why she is doing this, explaining that she had become “so burnt out.”

‘I’m So Burnt Out’

“I don’t want to be beholden to anyone’s schedule other than my own. I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions and I know it,” the 57-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I really don’t know,” Bullock responded when asked how long her break will be.  “Work has always been steady for me, and I’ve been so lucky. I realized it possibly was becoming my crutch.”

“It was like opening up a fridge all the time and looking for something that was never in the fridge,” she continued. “I said to myself, ‘Stop looking for it here because it doesn’t exist here. You already have it; establish it, find it and be okay not having work to validate you.'”

Bullock Wants To Spend Time With Her ‘Beautiful Babies’

Bullock, who is the mother of two young children, told People Magazine back in March that she wants to spend more time with her “beautiful babies.”

“I’d rather look at them every day and have them be mad at me and annoyed and make memories with them for right now,” Bullock said at the time. “I never said I’m retiring, unless while I’m with the babies I decide to retire, then I’ll make that announcement. A very important announcement that no one will care about.”

Watch Bullock talk more about this in the video below.

Bullock also had talked to Entertainment Tonight around that time about wanting to step back from work so she could spend more time with her family.

“Right now, and I don’t know how long that will be, I need to be in the place that makes me happiest,” she said. “I take my job very seriously when I’m at work. It’s 24/7 and I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family.”

While Bullock doesn’t have any more projects in the work as she begins her hiatus, she does have one more completed project that will be hitting theaters later this summer, and that star-studded movie is called Bullet Train. You can check out a trailer for that below.

Bullock Won’t Marry Longtime Boyfriend

Bullock shares her parenting duties with her longtime boyfriend Bryan Randall, who she has described as the love of her life. While she says their family dynamic is “the best thing ever,” she also has no plans to marry Randall, however.

“I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner, a devoted mother,” Bullock told US Weekly at the end of last year. “I don’t need to be told to be ever present. I don’t need to be told to weather the storm with a good man.”

From Speed, to Miss Congeniality, to the recent hit The Lost City, Bullock has made many movies that the whole family can enjoy, so she definitely deserves a break. We just hope that Bullock does not decide that this break should be permanent, and that we see her back on the big screen at some point in the future!
