Tom Brady Reveals What’s Next After He Retires From Football

The seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady may be preparing for another season playing in the NFL, but he already knows what he plans to do with his life once he does finally retire.

Brady To Become Television Announcer

CNN reported that it was announced on Tuesday morning that Brady will be joining Fox Sports as an announcer when his NFL career comes to an end.

“Over the course of this long-term agreement, Tom will not only call our biggest NFL games with Kevin Burkhardt, but will also serve as an ambassador for us, particularly with respect to client and promotional initiatives,” said Lachlan Murdoch, Fox Corporation’s CEO.

Brady briefly addressed this news on Twitter, writing, “Excited, but a lot of unfinished business on the field with the @Buccaneers.”

TMZ reported that Brady will make $25 million a year with this new gig and that his entire contract may be worth up to $200 million.

Brady briefly retired earlier this year before changing his mind and deciding that he’d like to play another season with the NFL. Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich didn’t seem surprised to hear that once his football career is over, Brady plans to become an announcer.

‘It’s The Way He Sees Football’

“I think that’s excellent,” Leftwich told ESPN. “It’s crazy when you’re 45, you have to think of your next job when you’re still playing football, right? You have to do this early, right?

“But it’s the way he sees football,” he added. “That’s what I love. That’s what makes our relationship unique — the way he sees football. I love the way he sees football. It’s similar to the way I saw it. … He’s a football junkie and he has an interesting perspective of this position, and I think it would be great for everyone to hear that, everyone to hear it, to see/hear how he’s wired, the way that he sees football, because we’re talking about the best ever, right?”

“The fact that you get the best ever to play the quarterback position, have an opportunity to listen to him talk about football — a year from now, two years from now, three years from now — is a great thing,” Leftwich concluded.

Brady Preparing For NFL Season

Brady is currently the leader in the NFL’s career passing yards (84,520) and touchdown passes (624). He also led the NFL last year with a career-high 5,316 passing yards and 43 touchdowns. As for right now, Brady is firmly focused on preparing for his upcoming NFL season.

“It’s still some time to get to that point,” Brady said of the season beginning. “I feel like I’m still kind of getting my body where it needs to be. It’s a big commitment. I think the best part about doing it is always doing it with your teammates. I’ve got a great group of teammates.”

We can’t wait to see how this season goes for Brady, and we look forward to seeing what he brings to the table as an announcer once he finally retires!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
