See Which Artists Will Be Joining Wynonna Judd On Tour

Earlier this week, we reported that Wynonna Judd had announced that she will be moving forward later this year with the tour that she had planned with her legendary mother Naomi Judd, who tragically committed suicide nearly three weeks ago at the age of 76. 

Now, it’s been revealed that Wynonna will be joined on this tour by various female country music stars, including the iconic Faith Hill.

Wynonna Continues Tour 

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…the show must go on, as hard as it may be,” Wynonna said when she announced on Sunday that The Judds tour will continue.

USA Today reported that Wynonna will be joined on this tour by Hill as well as Brandi Carlile, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde and Trisha Yearwood. 

“I am humbled, once again, by the loyalty of the fans who have been with us for 38+ years, who continue to show up for me when I need them the most. I am grateful that we will continue to honor The Judds legacy, together,” Wynonna said in a statement.

“It is pretty amazing – all of the people who have come forward to offer up their time and their gifts. I am feeling extra grateful,” she added.

Naomi’s Widower Speaks Out

Larry Strickland, who was married to Naomi for 33 years prior to her death, also gave his blessing to the tour. 

“I am so happy that in this time of grief for us all, Wynonna has agreed to move forward with this tour as my sweet wife Naomi would have wanted her to do,” he said.

The tour will kick off with Martina McBride performing a full set of her material before Wynonna takes the stage to perform some of her and her mom’s classic songs. Hill will be joining Wynonna on October 29 for the final stop of the tour at Lexington, Kentucky’s Rupp Arena.

“What a full-circle moment it will be to end the tour in Kentucky where it all began,” Wynonna said. “It means so much to have my sister-friend, Faith, join me for this musical celebration.”

Naomi’s Suicide 

This comes days after Wynonna’s sister Ashley revealed that their mother shot herself with a firearm after years of mental health struggles that she had been very open about. 

“I’m tasked with an exceedingly difficult task in disclosing the manner of the way my mother chose not to continue to live,” Ashley said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve thought about it so much because once I say it, it cannot be unsaid.”

“And so, because we don’t want it to be a part of the gossip economy, I will share with you that she used a weapon. Mother used a firearm,” she continued. “So, that’s the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing, but understand that we’re in a position that if we don’t say it someone else is going to.”

Naomi Judd’s death continues to be incredibly tragic, but she would undoubtedly be incredibly proud that both her daughters are furthering her legacy, and that Wynonna is continuing with the tour they had planned with the support of various female country music icons. We can’t wait to see how this tour goes later this year!
