Ray Liotta’s Career
Liotta first gained fame in 1986’s Something Wild, which garnered him numerous nominations, including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
The biggest role of his career came as gangster Henry Hill in the Martin Scorsese classic, Goodfellas. The role brought him fame and brought audiences perhaps the best closing monologue of any film.
Following Goodfellas, Liotta starred in several hit movies including Field of Dreams, Corina, Corina opposite Whoppi Goldberg, and a personal favorite from my childhood, Operation Dumbo Drop.

In the late 90s and 2000s, Liotta starred in a string of underrated crime films including Copland, Narc, Identity, Smokin’ Aces, and Killing Them Softly.
Of course, everyone is going to say you should watch Goodfellas tonight. And while it is no doubt a classic, I think Narc or Smokin’ Aces might be worth your time. Both are excellent films where Liotta gives honest, grounded, yet complex performances.
Tributes To Ray Liotta
Fans and fellow actors took to social media to pay tribute to Liotta and his accomplished career.
GOODFELLAS is one of the all-time greats, but it’s just one of many incredible movies Ray Liotta was a vital part of. FIELD OF DREAMS, NARC, NO ESCAPE, COP LAND, IDENTITY… heck, he even played Sacha in the short-lived CASABLANCA tv series. Rest In Peace, Ray Liotta. https://t.co/dBA3jKVJRw pic.twitter.com/tCOTVyQDl2

RIP to Mr. Ray Liotta, always enjoyed his films, obviously Goodfellas, Cop Land, and Narc… but his work on Blow as George Jung’s dad is my favorite memory and his best work as a supporting actor IMO. #RIP pic.twitter.com/EiQJ6Ckepv

Ray Liotta’s performance in the highly underrated film Narc was the first time I’ve ever noticed a terrific acting performance. May he rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/udEmuq9S5r
