The country music world was devastated back in 2015 when the singers Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton got divorced following four years of marriage. Though they have since remarried, her to Brendan McLoughlin and him to Gwen Stefani, Lambert has never forgotten the toll this divorce took on her.
Lambert, 38, told CBS News that she was stunned by the tabloid frenzy that ensued after news of her divorce broke.
“I wasn’t prepared for that,” Lambert confessed. “Well, I don’t think anybody is. And it’s not nice sometimes.”
“I think you got to take it with a grain of salt and know that I’m a singer-songwriter so luckily I can tell my whole truth,” she added. “I will not lie in my music.”
Lambert went on to explain that she has found peace in herself all these years later.
“I’ve also grown up and I’ve learned a lot about myself and I think at some point you start to settle into who you are,” she said. “I think that’s why you feel that peace coming from me, because I feel at peace with myself.”

These days, Lambert is loving life with her husband McLoughlin, who she met during a “Good Morning America” appearance when he was working security.
“It’s like some kind of Hallmark movie or something,” Lambert recalled of their meeting. “The redneck from Texas meets this beautiful NYPD officer on the street in New York, but it actually happened that way.”
McLoughlin recently starred in Lambert’s music video “Settling Down,” a song that she wrote partly about him.
“He loves it,” Lambert gushed of her husband. “He’s such a ham. I mean, he’s white teeth, blue eyes … if there’s a camera, he’ll jump in front of it. He’s a very extroverted, outgoing person.”

Shelton previously opened up about his divorce from Lambert in a 2018 interview, saying that he bonded with Stefani because she had recently gotten divorced as well from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
“When I was going through my divorce and just, you know, hit rock bottom just like anybody does when they go through something that devastating, it’s a miracle that I met somebody that was going through the same exact thing that I was at the same exact moment in time,” he said at the time, according to US Magazine.
