Junior dos Santos

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was injured during his Eagle FC 47 main event fight.

Dos Santos was battling Yorgan De Castro when he suffered a nasty shoulder injury int eh third round. The bout was halted and Des Castro declared the winner.

Eagle FC is the promotion run by former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov was hoping to book dos Santos vs. Fedor Emelianenko in a co-promotion with Bellator MMA next.

De Castro, though, asked for that fighter after being declared the winner.

“With all due respect, let me fight Fedor,” he said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “If Fedor is on the line, I want to fight Fedor. I will sign the dotted line.”

De Castro has scored two wins under the Eagle FC banner and is now 9-3 overall. Dos Santos has lost five in a row and is 21-10.

Nurmagomedov posted on Twitter that he “feel bad” for dos Santos who he said was “look amazing” in the fight.

In the co-main event, Thiago Silva and Hector Lombard was declared a no-contest after an illegal knee rendered Lombard unable to continue.
