Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Alexander Gustafsson will return this summer.

Gustafsson will face Nikita Krylov at UFC Fight Night in London on July 23. The event takes place from the O2 Arena.

It will mark his first fight at 205 pounds in over three years. Gustafsson announced his retirement but returned in 2020 and faced Fabricio Werdum.

That bout took place in the heavyweight division, with Gustafsson suffering a submission loss.

During his career, Gustafsson has had legendary battles with the likes of Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira and others.

Krylov is coming off two consecutive losses, falling to Paul Craig and Magomed Ankalaev. He is 2-4 over his last six fights.

The main event for the card is expected to be heavyweight battle between Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall.

With the current state of the UFC light heavyweight division, one would not think Gustafsson would need too many wins in a row to reach contender status.
