Will Smith canceled

One week after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, Will Smith has reportedly gone into full panic mode, as he’s terrified he’ll be canceled forever as multiple film projects of his have been put on hold in the wake of the scandal.

‘His Biggest Fear…’

“He feels terrible and is trying not to panic, but seeing his roles put on ice has been a hugely bitter pill to swallow,” one source close to Smith told US Weekly

“His biggest fear is that he’s in the process of being fully canceled, and there’s nothing he can really do about it except sit back, suck up his punishment like a man and try to atone however he can,” the insider added.

Another source told Entertainment Tonight that Smith “is aware of the backlash that has surfaced, especially from the comedian community.”

“Though Will’s actions have caused embarrassment for some of his friends and peers, his close friends are still privately texting him and trying to be there for him,” the source stated. “They believe there is a lot of anger in Will and his incident at the Oscars is just one way that it came out.”

Smith’s Family Wants Him To Get Help

This insider went on to say that Smith’s family and friends want him to stay away from acting for a little while so that he can focus on working on himself.

“They think he needs to take a break from acting, go to therapy, and sort out his issues,” the source said. “Their family is working through it all. They are a strong family unit, and they support Will 100 percent.”

Smith rushed the stage and slapped Rock at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke about the bald head of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia. Smith has since resigned from the Academy in disgrace, and the Academy will be meeting on April 18 to decide what other punishments may be warranted for this assault.

It’s possible that he could be stripped of the Oscar that he won for his work on King Richard just minutes after the smack occurred.

Chris Rock Refuses To Address Smack During Standup Performances

Rock has yet to speak out publicly about the slap, and while performing a surprise set at the Comedy Cellar in New York City on Tuesday night, he refused to address the controversy.

“He literally only addressed it as the the crowd was going wild for his surprise appearance, and he got on stage and said, ‘Lower your expectations. I’m not going to address that s–t,’” one member of the audience told Page Six

While performing in Boston last week, Chris Rock told his audience that he is “still processing” what happened, and that he intends to speak on it at some point in the future.

Smith certainly does seem to be in Purgatory when it comes to whether or not he will be permanently canceled. Only time will tell if he will ever be able to bounce back from this.
