Bellator 279 Results: Cris Cyborg Defends Title In Battle

Cris Cyborg was pushed for five rounds at Bellator 279 Saturday night.

But Cyborg prevailed and defended her title.

The long-time champion earned a decision victory over top contender Arlene Blencowe in the main event live on Showtime. She swept the scorecards in a bloody back-and-forth contest.

It was the fourth title defense for Cyborg, who is now 26-2 overall.

In the co-main event, Raufeon Stotts became the interim bantamweight champion with a knockout of Juan Archuleta.

That bout was also part of the ongoing Bellator World Bantamweight Grand Prix. Patchy Mix knocked off Kyoji Horiguchi in another grand prix contest.

Justine Kish bested Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Yancy Medeiros downed Emmanuel Sanchez.

On the prelims, Goiti Yamauchi, Bobby King and Dayana Silva were among the winners.
