AEW Nixes Chris Jericho Stable, Update On New Tag Team Signing

During a recent interview, the one and only Chris Jericho talks about a stable he wanted to form in AEW, from the get-go. Sadly, the company nixed the idea.

AEW Nixes Chris Jericho Stable

While on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Jericho reveals he originally wanted to form a babyface faction with Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston. He never thought about “turning heel”, but was “reading the room” along the way.

During the interview, Chris notes that he had the “romantic idea” that the Inner Circle would be together until the end. He states that once they started, he saw so much possibility.

During a show in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jericho reveals a promo he had with Kingston. Eddie began the segment by stating that he didn’t know why he was out there.

Kingston also noted that “this is pro wrestling, not sports entertainment” during the promo. He said that if fans want that (sports entertainment) they can go down the block.

Chris Jericho & His Current AEW Stable

Chris notes that half the crowd cheered at this statement, half booed. Jericho then realized his AEW fanbase didn’t really like that “sports entertainment” term.

This is when the “wheels” went into motion for Chris and things he could do. It’s where his “sports entertainment” thing came from.

How will The Jericho Appreciation Society be booked in the near future? It’s hard to say, but the feud between them, Eddie Kingston, and Proud N Powerful is building up steam.

Could they one day form a face faction? Only time will tell.

Speaking of AEW, some interesting news for fans! The company has signed a new tag team.

Update On New Tag Team Signing

According to a report, The Gates of Agony have signed to wrestle in both ROH and AEW. Recently the team, consisting of Kaun and Toa Liona, debuted during the ROH Supercard of Honor XV.

The tag team was introduced as Tully Blanchard’s new clients. They picked up a win over Eli Isom and Cheeseburger.

As the event wore on, Brian Cage was introduced as the third member of “Tully Blanchard Enterprises”. Cage would defeat Ninja Mack.

Liona Provides An Update On His AEW Status

This week while talking to Koffin Radio, Liona was asked if he’s signed with AEW. He confirmed that it’s “official” and he’s signed with AEW, but is part of the ROH roster.

According to Fightful Select, Kaun, too, is signed and part of ROH, as well. It’s important to note that he too is technically signed under AEW.

Before AEW purchased ROH, Kaun was part of ROH, aligned with the Shane Taylor Promotions faction. He began working with the promotion at the Future of Honor tapings in late 2018.

Meanwhile, Liona’s ROH debut was Supercard of Honor. With that said, he’s made four appearances on AEW from October 2021 to January 2022.

There’s no more information on whether or not the Tully Blanchard Enterprises stable will be seen on AEW or future plans for the faction. However, it looks like they all have a bright future ahead.
