WrestleMania Preview: Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair (SmackDown Women’s Title)

Happy WrestleMania week, folks! This week, we will break down all twelve planned matches/segments. We will dive into the backstory, if you should care, who will win, if it’ll be a good match, and if we can expect any WrestleMania-style surprises?

Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey have one of the most violent build-ups to WrestleMania.

The Backstory

After a three-year hiatus, Ronda Rousey made a surprise return to WWE, winning the Royal Rumble and declaring that she would pursue Charlotte Flair’s SmackDown women’s title. Since the two have gone full WCW Backstage Assault as they beat each other up on top of cars and announced tables.

Ronda still has a bitter taste in her mouth from losing her title to Becky Lynch and wants to prove that she didn’t lose anything while taking time off to be a mother.

Charlotte continues to be the measuring stick and the top performer in the women’s division in her mind. If anyone is going to be considered the greatest or the top star, they have to go through the Queen first.

The “Who Cares?” Scale

The feud and build to this have been excellent. I am a sucker for pull-apart brawls. I am looking forward to this one.

I give this match 3.4 out of five cares.

Who Will Win

Ronda. Especially if she’s staying around, I think it makes a lot of sense for her to be the champion and go on another dominant run on her way to facing off against Becky Lynch at SummerSlam*

Will This Be A Good Match?

Yes. It should go without saying that these are two of the best and there are a lot of animosities here. I expect a hard-hitting athletic bout. I can see this one opening up Night one, going about 20 minutes.

I don’t think this must be a ‘main event’ match either. Have these two go nuts on each other for a 10-minute beatdown, and the crowd will go nuts. Make it a natural fight feel.

Wild Card Prediction?

Ronda needs to be a heel. It’s what made her a star in UFC, and it can help her a lot here. A pleasant surprise could be the double turn where Charlotte turns good. However, Charlotte is NOT a good babyface either, so this will be tricky.

What are your thoughts on this WrestleMania match? Let us know in the comment section below.

*I have no insight into whether or not Becky and Ronda will face off at SummerSlam, but it makes sense to me as the two need to have a rematch.
