In news that made me feel old, Scott Hall is in the hospital after breaking his hip. Plus, Samoa Joe confirms the NXT “injury” that had him relinquish the championship last year.

Scott Hall In Hospital

If you are a fan of wrestling in the 90’s and 2000’s, this might make you feel old. Scott Hall is in the hospital after a fall, with a broken hip.

The news was shared by Jerry Jarrett via Facebook, and was covered by PWInsider.

As noted by the report, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall is 63…so this isn’t exactly ancient.

I hear broken hip or a fall resulting in one, and I am thinking of someone much older…and a much worse prognosis.

For now, the details surrounding the injury and subsequent hospitalization are scarce.

It was also noted that Hall had been expected to be present during WrestleMania festivities.

Many former Superstars, especially Hall of Famers, tend to be around during WrestleMania week as well as the Hall of Fame ceremony.

Given the injury, it is not yet known if Hall will still be able to attend.

If I were a betting man, considering how such an injury can impact mobility (not to mention being comfortable say…on a plane for long trips) and I don’t think I’d be expecting Scott Hall in Dallas.

Either way, we wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

Samoa Joe Confirms NXT “Injury”

It wasn’t that long ago that the man became the only 3 time champion for the brand…but now, Samoa Joe confirms the NXT “injury” that cost him that title.

Joe was a guest on Busted Open Radio earlier, and he took the time to set things straight.

In case you forgot, or didn’t know…

Samoa Joe defeated Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship. Joe had re-joined NXT after being fired shortly after WrestleMania 37.

At first, Joe was brought in by William Regal as an enforcer of sorts, protecting Regal from Kross.

Things turned physical, Joe quit his job as enforcer, and took Kross down as champ.

That move was done ahead of Kross moving to the main roster (briefly).

Samoa Joe wasn’t NXT Champion again long.

As the NXT 2.0 rebrand came to pass, it was announced that Joe had to relinquish the title due to an “injury”.

At the time, most wondered if the injury was just a storyline excuse to get the belt off of Joe, setting up the reboot of the brand.

Now, Joe confirms that there was an injury…sort of.

If, by injury, we can mean illness.

On the radio show, Samoa Joe confirmed that just prior to relinquishing the title, he tested positive for COVID.

He explained what happened after, which led us to the championship being up for grabs on the debut of NXT 2.0.

Joe talked to Vince McMahon about his positive test. The Boss explained the reboot and his desire for a big start, and it was clear what made the most sense.

It’s unfortunate that Joe had to drop the belt, and more unfortunate that he is gone from WWE.

However, he has been inducted in the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame, and surely seems to be lining up future activities outside of WWE.

Of course, some fans were quick to point out the double standards in WWE…and they are not wrong…
