Tom Brady not retiring

Tom Brady shocked the world six weeks ago when he announced that he was retiring from the NFL after a 22-year career that saw him win seven Super Bowl titles. Now, he has shocked the world once again by announcing that he is coming out of retirement to play another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and fans and celebrities alike are loving it.

Brady Un-Retires

“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady wrote on Twitter. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”

Celebrities And Fans Celebrate

Fans have been quick to celebrate Brady’s announcement that he will no longer be retiring, with even Academy Award nominated actor Hugh Jackman getting in on the action:

Brady’s Retirement

Daily Mail reported that Brady spent 20 seasons playing for the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls for that team before he made the move to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He announced his retirement on February 1, saying that he wanted to spend more time with his wife, former supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and his three children.

“I have always believed the sport of football is an ”all-in” proposition – if a 100% competitive commitment isn’t there, you won’t succeed, and success is what I love so much about our game,” Brady said at the time. “There is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge EVERY single day that has allowed me to maximize my highest potential. And I have tried my very best these past 22 years. There are no shortcuts to success on the field or in life.”

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention,” he added, saying that his wife and children are his “inspiration” and “greatest achievement.”

The Hollywood Reporter revealed a few weeks later that Brady was going to act and produce in a football-themed road trip movie called 80 For Brady, which was also set to star Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Rita Moreno, and Lily Tomlin.

The film was going to tell the story of four octogenarian best friends who take a road trip to see their hero Brady play in the 2017 Super Bowl LI. It is unknown at this time whether this movie will still be made, given the fact that Brady is no longer retiring.
