UFC champion Israel Adesanya isn’t going anywhere soon.
Adesanya signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC ahead of his title defense.
This Saturday at UFC 271, Adesanya will defend his middleweight title against Robert Whittaker. The bout headlines the pay-per-view card from Houston’s Toyota Center.
“We are very happy with the terms of Israel’s new promotional agreement with UFC,” said Tim Simpson, Adesanya’s manager. “Israel truly deserves to be in the position that he is in, and we look forward to several more prosperous years with the UFC.”
While details were not revealed by Adesanya, Simpson or Paradigm Sports, it is believed to be “one of the most lucrative multi-fight deals in company history.”
Adesanya has quickly risen through the ranks, claiming the middleweight title. He also challenged for the light heavyweight belt, coming up short vs. Jan Blachowicz.
