When country music legend Dolly Parton celebrated her 76th birthday, she did so in a very special way! On her big day, Parton took to social media to post a throwback photo of her posing in her “birthday suit,” but not the kind of birthday suit that you’re probably thinking of!
Dolly was born on January 19, 1946, in Pittman Center, Tennessee. On January 19, 2022, she turned 76, and she celebrated with the great sense of humor her fans know and love.
If you read “Dolly Parton in her birthday suit” and thought you were going to see the iconic country star naked, shame on you! Just kidding, we’re sure no one was thinking that.
Instead of posting the sort of nude photo you’d expect to see on Madonna’s Instagram, Dolly joked around with her followers. The photo shows her wearing a bright pink satin suit over a red lace dress.
“Just hangin’ out in my birthday suit!” Parton captioned the photo.
This cheeky post is reminiscent of Parton’s desire to pose for Playboy for her 75th birthday last year, but the magazine had sadly stopped printing by then, according to Yahoo News.
Months later, Parton compromised by dressing up as a Playboy bunny for the birthday of her husband Carl Dean, to whom she has been married since 1966.

In honor of her 75th birthday, Parton let her fans know in an open letter to them that her only birthday wish was more compassion in the world.
“My wish is that everyone does something a little different today. Let’s call it a call for kindness,” she wrote. “If you want to donate to your favorite cause, then donate. If you want to give an old friend a call during these lonely times, give them a call. If you can safely volunteer, then raise your hand to do so. If you decide that today is the day you get a dog, then run down to the shelter and find your new buddy. The choices are limitless.”
“I always encourage people to dream big but I also take great care to follow that up with the message to work hard,” Parton added. “We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. We have to work to dig it out so we can share it with our family, our friends, and our neighbors. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love. Love is more contagious than a virus so let your best self shine in a glorious light and others will be inspired by you.”
Her message is certainly just as relevant today as it was last year!
