‘Superman’ Star Dean Cain Unloads On Alec Baldwin For Saying He Doesn’t Feel Guilty About Fatal ‘Rust’ Shooting

In an interview with George Stephanopolos that aired on Thursday night, Alec Baldwin opened up about the fatal shooting that occurred on the set of Rust back in October that claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and any feelings of guilt. Baldwin’s comments elicited a strong response from former “Superman” star Dean Cain.

Cain is now speaking out to slam Baldwin for this interview, particularly taking issue with the star saying that he feels no guilt over Hutchins’ death despite the fact that he was the one holding the gun that fired and killed her.

Alec Baldwin Responds ‘No’ When Asked If He Feels Guilt For ‘Rust’ Shooting

When asked if he feels guilty over Hutchins’ death, Baldwin said no because he thinks someone else “is responsible.”

“I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me,” he added. “If I felt that I was responsible, I might have killed myself,”

This did not sit well with Cain, however.

Dean Cain Slams Rips Into Alec Baldwin

“The fact that he doesn’t feel guilt?” Cain told Fox News of Baldwin. “That’s a tough one for me because if I had been in the same position, and I’d done that myself – even though it was a complete accident, and I believe it was an accident – I don’t know how you don’t feel some semblance of guilt. I don’t understand that. ”

Cain also said that he feels that there was some serious negligence on Baldwin’s film set that led to Hutchins’ death.

“I’m still trying to figure out why he did the interview. I think he’s just trying to get ahead of the narrative here and go, ‘Look, you know, here’s the here’s what it is’ and maybe get the court of public opinion on his side,” Cain said. “But you know, he violated – there was negligence here all the way through. Halyna Hutchins lost her life, and it was because of negligence.”

“Now, his response or his reason why he did it – pulling back the hammer – if he’s using a single action weapon and he pulls back the hammer and lets it go, that’s the same as pulling the trigger,” the conservative actor added. “Anybody who has any knowledge of guns understands that.”

‘There Should Have Been A Safety Meeting’

“Somebody brought that live ammunition on set, and that’s a problem. … Anybody who’s experienced, even as Alec Baldwin is, should have opened and checked the cylinder. There should have been a safety meeting beforehand.” Cain concluded. “It’s standard protocol, and it wasn’t followed. So there is negligence, without a doubt.”

Prosecutors have said that criminal charges are not off the table for anyone involved in the fatal shooting on the set of Rust, including Alec Baldwin.

It remains to be seen if Baldwin’s new interview will help him in the court of public opinion. Or if it will blow up in his face? Weigh in below.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
