Bette Midler Tweets West Virginia Is ‘Poor, Illiterate, Strung Out’ And The Comebacks Are Brutal

Star of stage and film Bette Midler came under fire on Twitter this past week for an inflammatory tweet in which she suggested West Virginians are “Poor, illiterate, and strung out.”

Bette Midler’s Twitter outburst was in response to West Virginia’s Senator Joe Manchin refusing to vote for the massive “Build Back Better” spending bill.

While supporters of the bill say it would help people in West Virginia, others worried that the massive government program would be too expensive and not achieve its desired results.

As is typical for activist celebrities on Twitter, the outspoken liberal elite let her heart get in front of her head. The result: she posted something regrettable that is frankly mean and untrue.

We aren’t going to come together as a country if we keep attacking those less fortunate or different from us.

Bette Midler presumably got the message loud and clear as she was forced to recant her statement referencing West Virginia. But that apology didn’t arrive until Twitter took the Divine Miss M to task for her words.

Did You Ever Know That You’re Not My Hero?

People online were NOT on-board with what the star of Hocus Pocus had to say.

Many call this further proof of what “coastal elites” think of the rest of America.

When you’re a Hollywood liberal, they let you say it!

Will Bette Midler Learn To Be Nicer On Twitter?

I think she got the point, yea?

If only people could try be a little more kind on Twitter. Or follow the old adage “if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all”?

I know, asking a Hollywood star to keep her mouth shut is a stretch, but perhaps she’ll learn?

A quick scroll of Bette Midler’s tweets on the following day, however, point to a big fat NOPE.

When will the Hollywood elite learn to stop insulting people from Real America? Please share this.
