This Saturday, Cheyanne Buys competes for the third time in 2021 at UFC on ESPN.

While most of the attention will be on the main event between Jose Aldo and Rob Font, Buys is an interesting fighter to keep an eye on.

Buys will face Mallory Martin on the undercard live on ESPN+. She was to meet Loma Lookboonmee to close out November, but was replaced for undisclosed reasons.

Either way, this is an interesting fighter in the strawweight division.

The 26-year-old earned her spot in the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series. She picked up a decision over Hilarie Rose in 2020 and made her debut this past March.

That fight didn’t go as planned, as Monsterrat Ruiz scored a decision win. But Buys quickly rebounded in July, picking up “Performance of the Night” honors in a win over Gloria de Paula.

In that bout, Buys displayed the kind of skills needed to make an impact. She landed a head-kick and followed up to get the first round finish.

Prior to joining the UFC, Buys was the interim BTC strawweight champion. She won four of her first five fights competing in Legacy Fighting Alliance and Invicta FC.
