Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this week in an interview that is set to air tomorrow. While it’s yet to be determined what this first appearance in over a decade might mean, Meghan Markle took the opportunity to opine on her days as a poor, struggling actress with Ellen while sporting a white Oscar De La Renta blouse that costs over $2,600.

Meghan Markle Paints Herself a Poor, Struggling Actress During Ellen Interview

Daily Mail reported that during the interview, Meghan claimed that before marrying Prince Harry, she frequently auditioned at the same studio lot where Ellen DeGeneres films her talk show.

“So I had this very old Ford Explorer Sport and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door so after auditions I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in, pull the door shut behind me and crawl all over my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro,” Meghan alleged.

“I would park on gate three and I would scoot on over and the security guards here would always say ‘break a leg, I hope you get it,'” Meghan said. “So driving today was very different.”

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted out a trailer for the interview, captioning it, “A lot has changed since the last time Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was on the Warner Brothers lot. Don’t miss the rest of our interview tomorrow.”

Meghan Markle’s Upbringing

This comes weeks after Meghan Markle claimed that she “grew up on the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler” in a letter to lawmakers asking them to support Joe Biden’s plans for better maternity and paternity pay.

Royal experts, however, questioned whether Americans would be impressed “by her account of how she had to struggle” when her estranged father Thomas paid for her to go to private school from the time she was in Kindergarten.

Not to mention, the “Suits” actress turned Duchess now lives in a lavish $14 million LA mansion while sitting on a $100 million fortune.

It was also recently revealed that Meghan once bragged that as a child, her father regularly took her to one of L.A.’s most famous restaurants, where celebrities can be seen eating steaks that cost as much as $55.

In a 2013 Instagram post that has since been deleted, Meghan recalled “happy” times at the Musso and Frank Grill on Hollywood Boulevard, hinting that she ate there regularly after dance lessons.

Meghan shared a photo of the restaurant’s famous sign above a vintage Mercedes along with the caption, “I used to have lunch with my dad here after every tap & ballet class. Happy. Thank you. More please #mussos #hollywood.”

Her Critics Weigh In

“She has receipts all over her Instagram contradicting her poverty letter,” one critic said. “She went to one of the most expensive schools in Los Angeles – but they couldn’t afford to spend more than $5 on a weekend dinner. I mean, during this time, Thomas was working on a hit TV show and had won an Emmy. WTH is she talking about?”

Clearly, Meghan Markle wants to publicly sell a narrative of her life that fits some kind of Cinderella, rags to riches story. Maybe she’s trying to land as part of her Hollywood comeback.

Unfortunately for her, however, the evidence simply does not back up her claim of being someone who rose from poverty to marry a prince.
