Former UFC champion Conor McGregor revealed his plans for 2022 recently.
McGregor, recovering from a serious injury suffered in a loss to Dustin Poirier, took to social media for updates.
It would appear that he is progressing well and is looking at April 2022 to begin sparring again.
“I will be full mixed martial arts sparring by April,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Easily! By then a return will be imminent. But I must be patient. I will beat this.”
Does that mean “Notorious” has an opponent in mind?
Michael Chandler, who has mentioned a fight with McGregor, was asked about by a follower.
“Hard not to be impressed,” McGregor said of Chandler. “In a game of inches he has been incredibly close each time. Could well be today’s champion.”
McGregor also took a shot a the current UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. McGregor has held the UFC featherweight and lightweight titles, and competed at 170 pounds in the past.
Discussing Usman’s recent win over Colby Covington, McGregor noted that he sees “many holes.”
“Thought Colby lumped him up nice last fight,” he said. “Finished stronger. Without that 2nd round knockdown it’s Colby’s fight (in my opinion).
“If even still. I see many holes. As well as a suspect dome. I fancy it greatly for the treble.”
And he also confirmed a third meeting with Nate Diaz is “1 billion percent” a “must” fight.
