Real Reason WWE Made Bryan Danielson Retire, Bobby Fish – AEW
Finally, Bryan Danielson is opening up on the real reason WWE made him retire. And, who was responsible for Bobby Fish signing with AEW?
Bryan Danielson is now able to reveal the real reason WWE made him retire. Also, Bobby Fish signed with AEW so quickly thanks to friends in high places.
Real Reason WWE Made Bryan Danielson Retire
Bryan Danielson had a Cinderella type story at WrestleMania 30. WWE did not have a big match for him, but plans changed.
The YES! Movement took off and WWE could no longer ignore it. They decided to book Danielson vs Triple H, with the winner advancing to the main event.
Danielson won and then entered the title picture, where he left as champion. Unfortunately, he was retired less than two years later due to injuries.
Now, while speaking to wdel.com, Danielson went over what happened and how he eventually returned.
“I legitimately thought I was healthy and still think that I’m healthy,” said Danielson. “One of the reasons I was forced to retire was not because of the concussions, but because I lied about that.”
“You have to understand, from WWE’s point of view, I had been wrestling for them for six years. But, then all of a sudden, they opened this Pandora’s box about ‘lying about his medical history and now we can’t trust him.’”

“A lot of that was building the trust back, but they were also legitimately looking after my health. I was going to see doctor after doctor and doing everything that I could to improve brain function to show, above and beyond, that my brain was healthy.”
Bryan Danielson On Doing His Research
“It’s also my love of wrestling. It felt like I wasn’t really to be done yet, I still needed to come back.”
“I also think there’s a lot left on concussion research to be done, and when you’re seeing the top doctors in the country and they’re all clearing you to do what you love to do, I think you should be able to do that.”
Danielson eventually was cleared by WWE to return for in-ring action. He was very successful, but left over the summer as he wanted work with NJPW talent.
In the end, he signed with AEW and instantly went for The Super Elite and Kenny Omega.
Bobby Fish – AEW
WWE released tons of wrestlers for over 18 months now. One of the NXT wrestlers let go was Bobby Fish.
Despite being released, he quickly found a new home in AEW. He unsuccessfully challenged AEW TNT Champion Sammy Guevara on Dynamite.

Well, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noted how The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) played a role in the former Undisputed Era member finding a new home so quickly.
The Young Bucks are AEW EVPs, so they have some say in what happens backstage. There has been talk that Tony Khan is taking more power, but that is not confirmed.
Fish will be in actin this Saturday for a special episode of Dynamite. He takes on another former WWE wrestler in, Bryan Danielson.
