Howie Mandel Of ‘America’s Got Talent’ Fame Passes Out At Los Angeles Starbucks

Howie Mandel, the comedian and former “Deal Or No Deal” host who is now a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after he fainted at a Starbucks in Los Angeles, California.

Mandel Collapses

Mandel, 65, took to Twitter hours later to give fans an update on what had happened.

“I am home and doing better. I was dehydrated and had low blood sugar,” he wrote. “I appreciate the great doctors and nurses that took such good care of me. Thank you to everyone who reached out but I am doing ok!”

TMZ reported that Mandel had been at a Starbucks in the Woodland Hills neighborhood with his wife Terry and some friends when he suddenly passed out and fell over.

Paramedics were called and they rushed Mandel to the local hospital.

This came days after Mandel took to Instagram from a hospital bed to post a video of himself recovering from a colonoscopy.

In the humorous video, Mandel showed fans his post-procedure outfit and talked to a neighboring patient who recognized his voice and “tried to audition [for America’s Got Talent] as he was waking up.”

“I just came out of my colonoscopy — the doctors here were nice enough to let me wear a one piece … with just a flap in the back,” Mandel said with a laugh.

Mandel’s Mental Health Struggles

Earlier this year, Mandel opened up to People Magazine about his “painful” battle with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

“My coping skill is finding the funny,” he said in June. “If I’m not laughing, then I’m crying. And I still haven’t been that open about how dark and ugly it really gets.”

While Mandel has learned to lean on his wife and three children, he still struggles with these mental health issues.

“There isn’t a waking moment of my life when ‘we could die’ doesn’t come into my psyche,” he explained. “But the solace I would get would be the fact that everybody around me was okay. It’s good to latch onto okay. But [during the pandemic] the whole world was not okay. And it was absolute hell.”‘

Comedy Gets Mandel Through

Thankfully, comedy has also helped to get him through the tough times.

“Comedy saved me in a way,” Mandel continued. “I’m most comfortable onstage. And when I don’t have anything to do, I turn inward — and that’s not good.”

Mandel brings joy to millions of fans on a weekly basis on “America’s Got Talent.” We hope that his fainting incident this week was not due to any serious issues.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
