How Reba McEntire Leaned On God To Survive Devastating Divorce And Losses

Country music legend Reba McEntire suffered a devastating series of losses in 2015, including divorcing her husband of 26 years Narvel Blackstock, but says that it was God who helped this true “survivor” turn things around.

2015 Was A Tough Year For Reba McEntire

Blackstock was still Reba’s manager when the couple called it quits in 2015. This meant the “Fancy” singer not only had to navigate losing a husband but also take the reins on her larger-than-life career.

Reba opened up in a new interview about the difficulty of taking over her business while also dealing with the end of her marriage.

To make matters worse, the singer’s divorce occurred shortly after the death of her father and the departures of her CEO and a production manager from her business.

“Things started going south with my marriage. Narvel Blackstock, my manager and husband at the time — we got a divorce, and the shocker of it all was, there were four people who were taking care of all my business,” she explained, according to People Magazine.

“I had my production manager who left, I had my CEO who left, my manager and husband, and my father had died. So four men who were rock and pillars of my world were gone,” McEntire continued.

Women, Know Your Worth

It wasn’t until Reba had to do the duties that these other men had carried out for her for years that she really gained perspective on just how much goes into the empire this country darling had created.

“I started realizing how much water cost, and the electric bill, and all the things that was going on in my life,” she joked. “I made the money, I brought it home. So it was a huge, huge change for me.”

Reba McEntire Leans On God Amid Divorce And Loss

In the end, it was Reba’s strong Christian faith that got her through this extremely difficult period in her life.

“Everything that I was dealing with privately, personally — I had to run it all through God. I had to say, ‘OK big boy, I can’t handle this. This is way over my pay grade — I don’t know what to do,'” she stated. “And I would wait, and He would guide me. And so without my faith, I have no idea where I would be or my career would be, at this time today.”

“If someone walked up to me and said, ‘Reba, I’m going through a situation like you did — what’s your advice?’ I would say, ‘Go home, regroup, and listen to see what you’re supposed to do next.’ Rally friends around you, good positive friends that have your best interests at heart — which I did — and you will survive,'” McEntire concluded.

Reba McEntire’s latest comments just go to show that no matter what life throws at you, you can always count on God and your loved ones to get you through it!

This song seems particularly poignant, “With my mama’s will and God’s amazing grace, I’m a survivor.”

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
