“Woke” Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano of “Charmed” and “Who’s The Boss” fame was arrested outside the White House of her beloved President Joe Biden on Tuesday for ignoring police officers’ requests for her to move as she protested for voting rights.

Milano Arrested

Photos show Milano holding up her hand as she was led away. She proceeded to post regular updates as she was taken into custody. Daily Mail could not confirm whether Milano herself was tweeting while in custody, or if someone was tweeting on her behalf.

I was just arrested for demanding the Biden Administration and the Senate to use their mandate to protect voting rights. Stand with me and @peoplefor and tell the Senate and White House that voting rights shouldn’t depend on where you live,” Milano tweeted at 2:46pm on Tuesday.

Milano was one of 20 protesters who were arrested after being warned by a US Park Police officer that they were risking arrest under a Washington D.C. misdemeanor law that bans crowding or obstructing streets or sidewalks.

Senate Set For Major Vote

Their protest came one day before the Senate is set to decide whether to move forward with the Freedom to Vote Act. The left-wing bill would make it easier to vote by establishing a 15-day minimum early voting window and making Election Day a federal holiday.

Democrats are threatening to filibuster this bill if they need to in order to pass it.

“We came back to the White House to deliver a clear message to President Biden: We need actions that match the urgency of his words on voting rights – and time is running out,” said Ben Jealous, the current president of the progressive group that Milano was protesting with. He posted this tweet just before he was arrested as well.

“The Freedom to Vote Act has to pass now if we are going to protect voting rights in the next election for all of us: for black voters and brown voters, for women, for younger voters, voters with disabilities and working people of all backgrounds,” Jealous continued, adding that Biden “needs to step up, or voting rights will die on his watch.”

Milano Sounds Off

After her arrest, Milano said that federal laws are needed to protect voting rights.

“John Lewis told us: ‘The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it, because it is not guaranteed. You can lose it,'” she told The Hill. “States across the country are trying to take it away from so many people in a cynical power grab. We can’t let them.”

“We need federal law right now to protect voting rights for all Americans, no matter which state they happen to live in,” Milano added. “It’s a cause that’s worth getting arrested [for].”

Like many in Hollywood, Milano seems to think that being an actress makes her an expert on politics. She should really stick to what she’s good at, which is playing pretend for a living.
