Yes, UFC 266 has a pair of title fights. But Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz steal the headlines.

The two welterweights meet in one of the featured bouts live on pay-per-view this Saturday night.

Proceeding that fight will be Valentina Shevchenko vs. Lauren Murphy and Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega.

Shevchenko is one of the top female fighters on the planet and the reigning UFC flyweight champion. Volkanovski holds the featherweight title and Ortega is right there with him.

However, it will be Lawler and Diaz who generate the headlines, boost the pay-per-view buys and have everyone talking come Sunday morning.

Diaz makes his long awaited return to the Octagon. He last fought in 2015, battling Anderson Silva.

Prior to that, Diaz had faced off against Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit for UFC gold. All three of those bouts were five rounders that went the distance.

Overall, Diaz is 26-9, but his style and willingness are what bring fans to the table.

Lawler, of course, is a former champion who does the exact same thing.

“Ruthless” has been in some wars with Condit, Johny Hendricks and of course Rory MacDonald.

When we get these two together, nothing short of a “Fight of the Year” is to be expected. Hopefully, the two can live up to the hype.

These two fought once before, with Diaz winning in 2004 at UFC 47 via knockout.
