Sean Strickland showed he can go five rounds and 25 minutes Saturday night, scoring a victory over Uriah Hall at UFC on ESPN 28.
The event took place from Las Vegas and the UFC Apex, airing live on both ESPN and ESPN+.
Strickland dominated the main event contest, easily sweeping the three scorecards for his fifth consecutive win. Hall had his win streak snapped with the loss.
In the co-main event, Cheyanne Buys finished Gloria de Paula. The bout was elevated to that role when Rani Yahya tested positive for COVID-19 just hours before his scheduled match with Kyung Ho Kang.
Jared Gooden and Melsik Baghdasaryan each earned finishes, with Gooden knocking out Niklas Stolze in the first round and Baghdasaryan stopping Collin Anglin in the second. Jason Witt bested Bryan Barberena via majority decision.
On the prelims, Chris Gruetzemacher, Jinh Yu Frey, Zarrukh Adashev and Phil Rowe were all winners, with Kai Kamaka III and Danny Chavez battling to a majority draw.
Witt and Barberena were named “Fight of the Night” while Buys and Baghdasaryan each picked up “Performance of the Night” bonuses.
