Former UFC champion Jose Aldo returns to the Octagon this Saturday night at UFC 265 vs. Pedro Munhoz.
For Aldo, this bout presents a perfect opportunity to once again showcase his skills.
The fight has been elevated to the co-main event role after Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena was pulled. That puts pressure on Aldo, and he has shown in the past that he can deliver.
Of course, the 34-year-old Brazilian is years removed from his incredible 25-1 run through the WEC and UFC that included stints as champion at featherweight.
Since a 2015 loss to Conor McGregor, Aldo has gone just 4-5. Of course, those four wins have come vs. former champion Frankie Edgar, Renato Moicano, Jeremy Stephens and Marlon Vera.
He won the interim UFC featherweight title with the victory vs. Edgar and scored “Performance of the Night” bonuses against Moicano and Stephens.
Needless to say, we could see a return of the old Aldo once more.
He looked in fine form this past December following three rounds of one-sided action vs. Vera.
If Aldo has another shining performance, his name will be a welcome attraction to the bantamweight division kingpins.
