Liberal comedian Kathy Griffin took to social media on Monday to announce to the world that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She also dropped the shocking bomb that she attempted suicide last year after becoming addicted to pills.
Griffin Reveals Cancer Diagnosis
The 60-year-old comic made the cancer announcement in an Instagram post in which she addressed her fans.

“Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!” Griffin wrote. “The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.”
She went on to say that she is hoping that she won’t need to do chemotherapy or radiation treatments, saying, “I should have normal function with my breathing.”
“It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine,” Griffin continued. “Of course I am fully vaccinated for Covid. The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious. Please stay up to date on your medical check ups. It’ll save your life.”

Griffin Admits She Attempted Suicide
Griffin will be opening up further about her diagnosis on ABC’s “Nightline” on Monday night.
“I was definitely in shock,” she said. “I’m still a little bit in shock, not denial, but I still once a day I’ll turn to nobody next to me and go, ‘Can you believe this s**t? Is this a b**ch or what?'”
In this same interview, Griffin admitted that she became addicted to pills last year and even attempted suicide.
She blamed the fallout from her infamous 2017 photo in which she posed with the severed head of former President Donald Trump for causing her life to go downhill.
Griffin claimed that after the photo was released, she and those close to her were targeted with death threats.
Though she has never drank alcohol before in her life, she soon found herself turning to pills.

Griffin’s Pill Addiction
“I thought, ‘Well, I don’t even drink… Big deal, I take a couple pills now and again, who doesn’t?’” she said. “Also, my age was a big part of it. I mean, who bottoms out and tries to take their life at 59?”
“It’s almost a joke, right, and by the way, someday, this will all be comedy,” she added. “Trust me… I was laughing to stay alive. And what I found is I felt like if I can’t make others laugh, then there’s no purpose for me to live. There’s no reason for me to live.”
These days, however, Griffin says her life is back on track, and she’s ready to fight cancer.
“The irony is not lost on me that, a little over a year ago, all I wanted to do was die,” she said. “And now, all I wanna do is live.”
