Former UFC contender and new GLORY fighter Alistair Overeem has been in the headlines as of late.

Overeem announced during an appearance on The MMA Hour that he will make his debut with his new fighting home in October. The veteran will challenge Rico Verhoeven for the heavyweight title at GLORY: Collision 3 on October 23.

The event is set for the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands and will air live on pay-per-view.

Overeem signed with the kickboxing promotion after being released by the UFC earlier this year. He lost to Alexander Volkov in his final fight.

Throughout his career, Overeem has won the Strikeforce and DREAm titles, along with claiming the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix.

During the interview, Overeem was asked his thoughts on the recent pro wrestling news involving the returns of Brock Lesnar and CM Punk. Overeem bested Lesnar inside the Octagon.

“The thing is with that whole wrestling thing…..I stopped watching after (I was young). So I’m not watching. Just recently, I started looking again on YouTube and oh my God, this stuff is lame.

“It’s just lame what these guys are doing. It’s fake. It’s lame. It’s stupid. It’s gay. It doesn’t make any sense.”
